Steele Lake by Lake Nabagamon, WI is the location of another log home we built.  This home was featured in the February/March 2006 issue of The Woman Today.  The owners planned their new log home with retirement in mind.  The 4,500 to 5,000 sq. foot home features wider walk areas for easier accessibility than in typical homes and you will find no steps anywhere on the main level.  Sitting in their cheery sunroom watching the sun set and rise is one of their favorite spots in the home.  A 28-foot split face field stone fireplace is the great room’s dominant element.  The fireplace mantle was milled from trees on the owner’s property, while the rest of the home is made from 12 inch diameter white pine logs, both outdoors and in.  The house features an interior log roof system – not trusses – making the tall lofted ceilings and exposed log rafters a unique feature.
